I felt pretty sore today from the bruises I got from my Segway spill.\u00a0 I slept in, messed around on my computer for a while, then headed out to the \u201cgay\u201d neighorhood.\u00a0 The term may be a bit unneccesary in a city as gay as Berlin.\u00a0 It has the third highest gay population in the world, after San Francisco and Sydney.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The neighborhood was nice, but seemed very normal.\u00a0 This is a good thing, I guess.\u00a0 It\u2019s time gay people became boring and normal.\u00a0 That would be a victory.<\/p>\n

I had paella at a place called El Toro Negro.\u00a0 I realized it was perhaps the first time I\u2019d ever actually had paella, but what\u2019s not to like?\u00a0 Chicken, rice and veggies.\u00a0 Yum.<\/p>\n

No, they're talking about the angry old German dude, not the civil rights leader. Dr. King has a dream; Martin Luther had 99 Theses.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Afterwards my pain was bothering me a bit less so I walked another hour or so through one of the big expensive shopping streets.\u00a0 Then home.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow is my bicicyle tour of Potsdam.\u00a0 I guess it\u2019s too much to hope that cutie pie Kevin will be the tourguide again!<\/p>\n

Yesterday I read Jon Krakauer\u2019s disturbing new expose of Greg Mortensen, the hugely successful bestselling author of Three Cups of Tea<\/em><\/strong> and Stones Into Schools<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Mortenson has received enormous adulation and financial success stemming from tales of his altruistic exploits building schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan.\u00a0 The problem is, according to Krakauer:\u00a0 Almost everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie.\u00a0 Most of what he wrote in both books is a lie.\u00a0 He also appears to be guilty of stunning financial irregularities.\u00a0 He was just destroyed on 60 Minutes<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s safe to say that when Jon Krakauer and 60 Minutes<\/em><\/strong> are on to you, it\u2019s time to give it up.\u00a0 I hope he\u2019s in jail soon.<\/p>\n

Krakauer, by the way, is a real journalistic stud.\u00a0 I\u2019ve now read every book he has published.\u00a0 He\u2019s a writer of tremendous skill, power and integrity.\u00a0 I\u2019m glad a man of his fierce intelligence and passion is on our side.\u00a0<\/p>\n
