Starbucks:\u00a0 You are leaving money on the table.\u00a0 Luckily, I\u2019m here to help.\u00a0 I\u2019m talking about the steadfast way you ignore your many customers who are trying to reduce the sugar in their diets.\u00a0 I\u2019m one of them.\u00a0 I absolutely love me a Venti Mocha Frappuccino, but ordered as is, the sugar content in it would probably render me unconscious.\u00a0 I want to order the lowest-sugar version of this lovely treat that I can.\u00a0 But, because your baristas collectively have zero clue about sugar as an ingredient, every time I try to do this, it\u2019s a frustrating ordeal.<\/p>\n

The first problem is that your lovely employees don\u2019t know how to distinguish between low sugar and low fat.\u00a0 Just today while I was waiting for my custom-ordered frappe (\u201cLight syrup.\u00a0 Light base.\u201d), the manager turned to me and said, \u201cSo, for that skinny mocha frappe, what kind of milk did you want?\u201d<\/p>\n

Uh, no.\u00a0 Even I know that in Starbucksland, \u201cSkinny\u201d means low fat.\u00a0 I never said low fat.\u00a0 In fact, I asked for whole milk and whipped cream.\u00a0 I\u2019m not afraid of the fat.\u00a0 I\u2019m trying to reduce the sugar.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m never confident that I\u2019m getting the lowest-sugar version of the Mocha Frappuccino, no matter how many times I order it.\u00a0 Sometimes the manager tells me to ask for \u201clight base.\u201d\u00a0 Sometimes the manager tells me to ask for \u201clight syrup.\u201d\u00a0 Which is it, my dudes?<\/p>\n

The answer is so simple.\u00a0 PUT A LOW SUGAR FRAPPUCCINO ON THE MENU.\u00a0 There.\u00a0 Done. \u00a0Add it to the list of drinks your employees learn to make. \u00a0Then my low-sugar caffeine addict friends and I will know how to order it.\u00a0 And, hopefully, your baristas will get clear on how to make it.\u00a0 We\u2019ll all waste less time talking about it; you\u2019ll move the line along more quickly, sell more drinks and everybody wins.<\/p>\n

Starbucks, you are in the business of selling complicated overpriced caffeine drinks to urban people willing to pay for them.\u00a0 Understanding and owning what the ingredients of these drinks are is sort of your job.\u00a0 Do it better.\u00a0 You\u2019re welcome.\"frap\"<\/p>\n
