But didn’t you think the nanny character in Babel was sublime? I don’t know if she was nominated, but she shoulda been.
She was nominated, but I still hate hate HATE the movie!!
Why doesn’t the message of a movie count for s**t with the Academy.
There’s something perverse about the fact that they would give “best movie” honors to a basic cops-and-robbers story (Departed) and not even nominate movies with terrific messages like “V for Vendetta” and “Pan’s Labyrinth. I guess it’s symptomatic of the lack of meaning in our entire decaying society.
