Really?
The Nobel Peace Prize? Already? I didn’t realize that coveted prize was used for encouragement? If so, could I have one?
I love the guy, and I think he might well deserve it later, but now? Really?

If you believe Rachel Maddow, it has been used as encouragement before. Maybe not this blatantly, but it has. Maybe not for just a speech or two.
Basically, its their prize, they raise the money, and its a private club. Its NOT like the Swedish prizes. While I do think it was a bit premature – a bit to much “white liberals meaning well” – its theirs to do with as they see fit and its not the first time that they have chosen someone some say did not deserve the prize. In fact this is not the worst example of that. What’s most disconcerting to me is the vitriol over every little thing that Mr. Obama does and says and, well, gets. I think some doth protest too much – covered up racism, anyone? Even my Dad, a very conservative Republican, thinks the criticism is over the top. Don’t we have better things to worry about – how about getting mad at how terribly corporate and republican Mr. Obama has turned out to be? How about vitriol over him caving on the public option without so much as an argument for it?
