How have you tried sweet potatoes? Sometimes I have found that people who say they don’t like a particular food has only tried it one way or are remembering a particularly nasty rendition from childhood. (I thought most veggies were nasty until I discovered they didn’t have to be cooked to mush.)
I can’t stand the classic sweet potato casserole traditional at many thanksgiving dinners. Too gooey sweet. I don’t like the way a baked sweet potato is served in many restaurants with cinnamon butter or maple glaze. Tooo sweet!
Sweet potatoes are naturally sweet and need no sugar added. Try them baked with plain real butter and maybe a bit of salt. Yum. Or peeled, chunked up and roasted with nothing but a bit of olive oil.
I love raw carrots. Not so much a fan of cooked ones (although their presence is required for authentic pot roast just because). Peppers – check. Oranges – double check.
But Dreamsicles? I LOVE dreamsicles. I haven’t thought of them in years and years. I didn’t even know they still made them. Where can I find dreamsicles at this time of night? Its twenty-nine degrees outside, I’m bundled up in my sexiest flannel nightie with matching knee high socks and you have me craving dreamsicles.
Why? Why? Why? Baked sweet potatoes with salt and butter are one of the best things ever! Forget all that marshmallow stuff and stick to the basics. And no cans! Fresh baked, real butter, and a little salt. Delicious – much better than Dreamsicles.
I hate sweet potatoes. I hate yams. This is not going to change.
There is a restaurant here in Houston that servers sweet potato fries. I garuntee it’ll make a lover of sweet potatoes out of the most die hard hater.
Sweet potato pie is DE-lish!! How can anyone not like pie???
